A home crucifix near the screen
A crucifix has quietly anchored Catholic homes for generations. When I started following youtube Catholic mass today more regularly, I moved our small crucifix so that it stood right next to the laptop. It did not change the Mass itself, but it changed me. My eyes would drift to the cross during the readings or the Eucharistic Prayer, and it helped my heart stay present.
If you choose to keep a crucifix by your screen, you might:
- Make the Sign of the Cross while facing it when Mass begins.
- Glance at it during the consecration, especially if distractions arise.
- Leave it out all day as a silent reminder of the grace you received.
On busy weekdays, that little crucifix by the monitor has often kept my workspace from feeling purely “functional.” It reminds me that even emails and deadlines sit under a larger story of love and redemption.
