I’ve been praying more consistently this year and reading the Gospels at night, and I keep noticing how certain people in Scripture feel strangely “close,” like their struggles match mine. Some days I feel like Peter—sincere but impulsive. Other days I feel like Martha—busy, worried, wanting to do everything right.
I’m curious how you all answer this: which biblical figure do you relate to most, and why? It can be someone from the Old Testament or New Testament. I’m not looking for “who’s your favorite,” but who mirrors your real life: your temperament, your faith journey, your failures, your hopes.
For me right now it’s Martha (Luke 10). I love Jesus deeply, but I can get anxious and over-scheduled, and then I’m annoyed at everyone else for not helping. I’m trying to learn Mary’s attention without abandoning my responsibilities. Would love to hear your stories—maybe it’ll help me pray with Scripture more personally.
