Hi everyone—this is my first Lent taking it seriously as an adult. I grew up Catholic but my habits got pretty shallow (basically: no meat on Fridays and that’s it). This year I really want a plan that’s realistic and not just “white-knuckling” a random sacrifice until I quit.
I work full-time, commute, and I’m usually tired by the evening. I also have a lot of screen time that feels like it steals my peace. I want to focus on prayer and actually becoming kinder, not just giving up chocolate and calling it holiness.
So: how do you personally observe Lent? What do you fast from (or add), what prayer routines help, and how do you keep it from turning into a checklist? Also—any advice for someone who wants to do this faithfully but without being extreme?
