Hi everyone. I’m 24 and I’ve been trying to take my faith seriously for the first time since college. I go to Sunday Mass, I’m praying most days (usually morning prayer and a short Rosary when I can), and I started volunteering at my parish.
Here’s the thing: I keep getting this “tug” when I see sisters or when our priest talks about giving your whole life to God. But I can’t tell if that’s God calling me, or if I’m just emotional because I’m finally feeling close to the Church again.
I’m also dating a really good guy. We’ve talked about marriage as a possibility, but I’m scared of wasting his time if God is calling me somewhere else. At the same time, the idea of religious life is beautiful… and also honestly intimidating.
When people say “you’ll feel peace” or “God will make it clear,” I don’t always feel clarity. Some days I feel excited, other days I feel anxious and confused.
How do you actually know if God is calling you to a vocation (marriage, priesthood/religious life, consecrated single life)? What are real signs vs. just my own thoughts? And what should my next step be without rushing? Thanks.
