Hi everyone. I’m a cradle Catholic but I’m trying to take my faith more seriously this year (daily prayer, Mass more consistently, actually reading about the saints). I keep hearing people talk about “their patron saint” and I don’t really know how you’re supposed to choose one.
I was confirmed as a teen and picked a saint name kind of randomly because everyone else did. Now I’m 29, married, and we’re hoping for kids soon. I’m feeling pulled toward having a saint I can really relate to—someone to ask for intercession, imitate, and learn from. But I don’t want to treat it like a personality quiz or just pick the “coolest” one.
How did you choose your patron saint? Is it okay to have more than one? Should I stick with my confirmation saint even if I don’t feel connected to them? Any practical steps (books, prayers, ways to discern) would be appreciated.
