I’m a cradle Catholic who’s trying to take Scripture more seriously, but I’m not sure how to move from “I read a passage” to actually living it. I’ll read the daily Mass readings sometimes, feel inspired, and then… I get pulled back into the usual routine: work stress, impatience with people, scrolling, worrying about money, and being short with my family.
I guess my question is practical: how does Scripture actually transform daily life in a Catholic way? Not just “read more,” but what does it look like to let the Word of God shape choices, habits, and reactions? Also, how do you do this without turning it into a checklist or feeling guilty when you miss a day?
If anyone has simple routines, prayers, or specific verses that helped you change (patience, charity, purity of heart, forgiveness), I’d love to hear them.
