Hi everyone—our parish just had a “seminarian Sunday,” and it really stayed with me. I realized I don’t actually know what seminarians need day-to-day beyond “prayer and donations.”
We have two men from our diocese in formation, and one of them comes home on breaks and helps with youth group sometimes. I’d love to support them in a way that’s respectful (I don’t want to be nosy) and also genuinely helpful.
What are good, concrete ways Catholics can support seminarians—spiritually, emotionally, and practically? Are there things to avoid that might unintentionally add pressure? Also, how can families and parish communities support vocations without turning it into awkward “priest talk” all the time?
Any ideas (prayers, devotional practices, care packages, mentorship, financial support, etc.) would be appreciated.
